  1. 5 STARS! My Favourite Black Liner

    5.0 out of 5 stars

oh man, I am so late to the party. This is the best eyeliner I've ever used. My eyelids are so oily and 3/4 Asian (but double-lid) that my eyeliner usually transfers to my crease, weird. It has staying power. It truly defeats my oily lids and lasts 8+ hrs with no creasing and does not require additional primer. So sad that Stila is discontinuing, I don't understand. This beats the smudge sticks, pots, and liquid liners. Easy to apply, glides right across the lid, and has a built in sharpener so I can keep the liner tip. STILA, please bring this liner back!

  2. i don't get it

    5.0 out of 5 stars

I bought the blue smudge crayon on clearance and I'm getting the black and umber now because I love it so much. I'm surprised at the bad reviews because I found it to be smooth and creamy and really easy to apply as a liner. I haven't tried it as a shadow but it's a great eyeliner! I wish it came in more colors. I wore it at work all day and had no issue with fading or wearing off. It was hard to get off but I didn't try makeup remover, just soap. No complaints here!

  3. So BLAH

    1.0 out of 5 stars

I should have taken a pass on this product, but the tester didn't set me up for the disappointment that my purchase did. Upon application, this "smudge" crayon DID NOT BUDGE. That's swell if one desires spotty eyeshadow. I do not. What this product DID do: stay on all day(despite my best efforts to wipe it off), concentrate around my crease, and require extreme scrubbing to remove. So sad that I walked around all day with this cement-like junk on my eyes, but it did give me the opportunity to warn every stylist and client in my salon. So, all was not lost.

  1. I wish I could give this a real review.

I got this in the l.a. Lady set in the color Pink Violet. I was pretty excited to try it, but based on other reviews I have decided that I probably got a defective product. First of all, it didn't have the sharpener on the bottom. More importantly, I can't actually use it because the crayon is way too hard so when I try to apply it, it hurts and barely any color comes off. Anything that does get on my skin is super dry and flakey anyway. It's such a big bummer because the color looks very pretty. :( Does Stila give replacements for defective items? Because I'm thinking of trying.

  2. Nice cream eye shadow with disappointing wear time

    4.0 out of 5 stars

I'm of two minds on this product. On one hand, it's almost exactly what I want from an eye crayon. The product is pigmented, creamy, blendable, dries quickly to a smudge-resistant nontacky finish, feels lightweight and comfortable on (some long wearing eye crayons feel stiff and heavy after they set, this does not), and applies beautifully. No dragging or tugging on my lid, and with the exception of pink violet, no instances of patchy pigmentation. Colors are really beautiful as well. Sounds fabulous right? The catch is that Stila defines longwear as 6 hours, which may be a decent wear time for a cream based product but it is the opposite of what I consider to be a longwearing eye shadow. In my opinion, any eye shadow that aims for a lower bar than 10 hours (if not 12-14) cannot be labelled longwearing. Eye shadow is not like lipstick, people don't expect that they'll need to redo their eyes mid day. If your eyes can't last from breakfast until at least dinner, you're hardly employing a sensible makeup routine. And at least on me, these crayons don't last that long. I tested them out on the bare lid and over my regular eye primer, and in both instances these crayons lasted just 6 hours before they started fading and creasing. The shades I purchased (rose and antique) harmonize well enough with my light complexion that the fading and creasing doesn't look disastrous so I can get away with wearing these all day long, but I can't imagine that I'd risk wearing any of the darker shades if I knew I had a long day ahead of me. They'd be fine for running errands on the weekend or for evening makeup, but they're not up to the task of a standard 9-5 work day. If Stila could just increase the wear time on these they'd be perfect! But until then, they'll be relegated to lazy days.

  3. Hmmm

I was SOOOO excited for these! Pretty Colours! TWIST UP! Easy to use and long lasting! I tried all the colours the first night I saw them, and just loved them all, but esp. the oddly duochromed Umber and Smoke. I dithered (How will I choose?) I justified (But they don't have to be sharpened, so I'll waste less!# I craved. #wants, wants, wants# So I got. Both of them. They are lovely. What they are NOT: *Primers. They will crease alone and fail to prevent creasing in powders. Fading is all but un-noticable, however. *AT ALL water-proof *Long lasting. #6+ hours? Really? Is that how long your day lasts?# I get creasing with and without primer, but with I can get to 6 hours and only minimal until 8. The lighter colour #Smoke# smudged just fine, but Umber had a real issue with collecting in pores and fine lines #I didn't even know I had any until I put this on!) without primer. Overall, they are so incredibly pretty I still want more, but the wear leaves me with a lot of unsatisified desires.
