Tips & Tricks

What is my Undertone?

Your undertone is the subtle hue beneath your skin that affects how colors look on you. It’s not about how light or dark your skin is, but the “temperature” beneath the surface. Here are three quick ways to figure it out:

1. The Vein Test
Look at the veins on the inside of your wrist in natural light:

  • If they appear more blue or purple, you likely have a cool undertone.
  • If they look more green, you probably have a warm undertone.
  • If you see a mix of both, your undertone may be neutral.

2. The Jewelry Test
Think about whether you tend to look better in silver or gold jewelry:

  • Silver usually flatters cool undertones.
  • Gold tends to suit warm undertones.
  • If both look equally good, you’re likely neutral.

3. The Sun Test
Consider how your skin reacts to sun exposure:

  • If you burn easily, you may have a cool undertone.
  • If you tan easily, you may have a warm undertone.
  • If it’s somewhere in between, you’re probably neutral.
